A subspecies with vibrant pink scales. Pink Rathians wield their toxic tails more deftly than normal Rathians, weakening prey with poison before moving in for the kill.In-game description
Pink Rathian is the prettier, nastier cousin of the regular Rathian. She looks like a cherry blossom, but in World and Iceborne she is more aggressive and uses her poison tail more than any normal Rathian. Bring Antidotes.
Out in the wild
This subspecies hunts in the Ancient Forest and the Wildspire Waste, and the Coral Highlands is where you are sent after her for the first time. Her scales are a bright pink, and her body and most of her tail are covered in tough shell. She softens prey up with poison from her tail before she finishes the job.
Where you meet it
Pink Rathian is part of the High Rank story. The 7-star assignment Old World Monster in the New World sends you to the Coral Highlands to hunt her. After that she shows up in optional quests, and a tempered version exists too. In Iceborne she is also a Master Rank target.
How the fight goes
Expect the full Rathian kit, just meaner. She spits fireballs, does a double bite and charges you down. The big one is the backflip: she rears back and flips her tail up, and a hit poisons you. Enraged, she can chain several tackles in a row, so don’t get greedy when she starts running.
Hunter’s tips
- Flash Pods knock her out of the air for a moment, but they work less each time you use one.
- Antidotes for the tail and Nulberries for Fireblight are must-haves.
- Hit the head and wings. Her body and the base of the tail are hard enough to bounce weaker sharpness.
- To sever the tail, aim for the softer tip. Dragon is her biggest weakness, with Thunder a solid second.
