How it playsThe Switch Axe swaps between Axe Mode, for reach and movement, and Sword Mode, for harder hits. Axe attacks fill the Switch Gauge and Sword attacks drain it. Keep hitting in Sword Mode and you fill the Amp gauge for the Amped State and its phial explosions. The phial type is fixed for each weapon. There’s no shield, but Sword Mode has a counter stance.In WildsNew: Full Release Slash is a big Sword finisher that drops you back into Axe Mode.Axe Mode has an Offset Rising Slash, and Sword Mode has a Counter Rising Slash.The Power Axe state comes from the Heavy Slam or the Offset follow-up.Its Focus Strike is Morph Combination.It takes some learning.
