How to use the Armor Set Searcher

Add the skills your build needs and set each one to the level you want. If you’re building around a set bonus or group skill, such as Gore Magala’s Tyranny or a 3-piece group skill, add that too. Pick your weapon type and either a specific weapon or an Artian weapon with the slots you rolled, then press search.

Every result shows the five armor pieces, the talisman, the jewels for each slot, the set bonuses it turns on, how many slots you have left and which extra skills come along for free. Sort by free slots, bonus skills or defense, then press Open in Build Planner to load the whole set, jewels included, into the Build Planner, where you can see your effective raw and share the build.

How the search works

In Monster Hunter Wilds, armor pieces, talismans and armor decorations only carry armor skills, and weapon skills only come from your weapon and weapon decorations. That lets the searcher treat the two sides separately. For the armor, it checks every High Rank combination of head, chest, arms, waist and legs, together with every crafted talisman, and for each one works out whether the missing skill levels fit in the free slots. Each armor skill has one jewel with a fixed size, so this check is exact: if a set is shown, it really works, and if nothing is shown, no set in the game can reach those skills. Weapon skills are then fitted into your weapon’s slots with weapon jewels.

All armor, skills, decorations and talismans come from the game files and match the version shown at the top of the tool.

Tips for better results

  • Start with the skills your build can’t live without, search, and then add more until results start to run out.
  • Skills without a decoration can only come from armor and talismans, so they narrow the search the most. The tool marks them in the skill list.
  • Sort by Most free slots to find room for comfort skills, or by Most bonus skills to see which sets bring the most extras.
  • Pieces that work exactly the same for your search are grouped, and their alternatives are listed under the piece, so you can pick the one you already own.

Good to know

The search assumes you own every decoration and that talismans are crafted at their highest rank. Random appraised talismans aren’t included, because every roll is different; add yours in the Build Planner after opening a result. Gogma Artian set bonuses on weapons aren’t counted by the searcher either.
