Yes, that Leshen. The forest spirit from The Witcher 3 came to World in a free crossover, and for this hunt you don’t play your own hunter. You play as Geralt of Rivia.

Out in the wild

Leshen makes its home in the Ancient Forest. It lives deep among the trees and uses its magic to control the plants and animals in its territory. In the New World, that means the local Jagras answer its call. It has no real place in the food chain here. It is a visitor from somewhere else entirely.

Where you meet it

The Witcher 3 collaboration arrived on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in February 2019, with PC following later. The quest Contract: Trouble in the Ancient Forest puts you in Geralt’s boots, with his silver sword and his signs, as he tracks down the Leshen. Clearing it unlocks Geralt’s armor and weapon set.

How the fight goes

The Leshen sends roots bursting out of the ground and calls packs of Jagras to swarm you. The roots and its summons keep you on the move, and you rarely get to stand still and swing for long. The Jagras are the annoying part.

Hunter’s tips

• Fire is its big weakness, so use Igni as often as you can.
• Deal with summoned Jagras quickly so they don’t wear you down.
• Its attacks can cause bleeding, so keep your health topped up.
• Poison is its best status, while sleep does nothing to it.
