The Scarlet Forest is a dense, wet tangle of waterfalls, streams, pools and old ruins. It gets its name from the water, which runs a deep red during the Fallow. It’s beautiful, and at the right time of year it’s half underwater.
Through the seasons
In the Fallow, fog settles in and the water turns scarlet. Then comes the Downpour, the forest’s Inclemency: a torrential rainstorm that floods the area and makes moving around slow and awkward. The Plenty follows, and life comes back in force.
Who lives here
The forest belongs to the Wudwuds, a Lynian tribe native to the Scarlet Forest. Their home is the Wudwud Hideout.
The apex here is Uth Duna, a water leviathan wrapped in a veil of water that’s strongest during the Downpour. The forest is also home to Lala Barina, Congalala and the Yian Kut-Ku flocks, plus Doshaguma, Rathian and Rathalos. Later, Mizutsune and Lagiacrus show up here too.
Worth knowing
- You reach the forest in Chapter 1, with Lala Barina and Congalala as the first hunts.
- Uth Duna’s repel at the end of Chapter 1 happens here.
- When the Downpour floods the paths, give yourself extra time to get around.
