Large, white fanged beasts that rule over other Blango, attacking as a pack. They exhibit a range of mobility, particularly in snowy climes.In-game description
Blangonga is the white ape king of the Iceshard Cliffs, and it never fights alone. A whole troop of Blango follows its lead, and the size of its tusks shows how strong a leader it is.
Out in the wild
It lives in the Iceshard Cliffs and leads a pack of Blango against anything that comes too close. Its muscles and mobility let it move fast even in fresh snow and pounce from a long way off, so ranged hunters aren’t safe either. It can also dig into deep snow and ambush you from below. Large tusks are the mark of a powerful leader.
Where you meet it
From High Rank onward. A Tempered version is also in Wilds. Blangonga first appeared in Monster Hunter 2.
How the fight goes
When it’s angry it can send its whole pack after one hunter. Add its freezing breath, which can leave you with iceblight, and the snow and ice it throws, and things get messy fast. The safest openings are at its rear, for example while it breathes frost or after a leap.
Hunter’s tips
- Break the tusks. It’s believed to undermine its authority, and the Blango stop working together.
- Clear the Blango early. They interrupt your combos.
- Stay behind it when you can.
