Lightning courses through the fur and unique plating of this fanged wyvern. It is most deadly in its supercharged state.In-game description
Iceborne finally brought Zinogre, the Thunder Wolf, to World. It is fast and flashy, and it turns into a different beast once it is fully charged.
Out in the wild
It lives in the Ancient Forest and the Coral Highlands, and in the Guiding Lands it shows up in the Forest region from level 2 and the Coral region from level 3. It calls Thunderbugs to its back and gets its electric power from them. You can see it happen when it howls and the bugs gather on its back.
Where you meet it
Zinogre is post-story content. After you beat the main story and open the Guiding Lands, you spot it there first and unlock the hunt by gathering its tracks. After that it also turns up in investigations and event quests.
How the fight goes
It fights with heavy forepaw slams, body slams and Thunderbugs flung from its back. When supercharged, its attacks carry thunder, its combos get longer and the fight speeds up. Hit it hard enough while it is charged and it loses the charge and calms down for a while.
Hunter’s tips
- Ice is its biggest weakness, with water close behind.
- Don’t throw a Shock Trap while it is supercharged; it won’t work. A Pitfall Trap is the safe choice for capture.
- When it is knocked down while charged, use a Capture Net on the glowing bugs on its back.
- Thunderblight makes you easier to stun, so carry Nulberries or slot Blight Resistance.
