huntersaga.com is an independent, unofficial Monster Hunter fan wiki run from Sweden. This policy explains what data is collected when you visit the site, why, and what choices you have. We keep it as short and plain as we can.
1. Information we collect
You can read and use everything on huntersaga.com without an account, and there are no comments or sign-ups. We never ask for your name, email address or any other personal details. When you visit, some information is collected automatically:
- Technical data: your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page and the pages you visit. Our web server records this in standard log files to keep the site running and secure.
- Cookies and similar technologies: small files stored in your browser that measure how the site is used and, with your consent where required, let Google show and measure ads.
2. Analytics
We use Google Analytics, through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to understand how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives information such as your IP address, device and browser details and the pages you view. Where the law requires it, these cookies are only used after you consent. You can read how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
3. Advertising
huntersaga.com is free to use and is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and, if you agree, show ads based on your interests. They may collect your IP address, device information and browsing activity on this site. You can read more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and manage personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.
4. Your consent
If you visit from the European Union, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will see a consent window before any non-essential cookies are used. You can accept, reject or choose which purposes and partners you allow. If you reject personalised advertising you will still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy settings link on the site, or by clearing the cookies for huntersaga.com in your browser, which brings the consent window back on your next visit.
5. The Build Planner and Community Builds
- Planning a build happens in your browser. The build is kept in the page address, so a copied link holds the whole build. Nothing is sent to us while you plan.
- “Save in this browser” and your planner settings are stored in your browser’s local storage, on your own device. We can’t see them, and you can remove them by clearing the site data for huntersaga.com.
- Sharing to Community Builds: when you share a build, or when it is listed because you copied a link or posted to Reddit with that option ticked, we store the build, its name and notes, its numbers and the time it was shared. These are shown publicly on the site. To stop spam and limit how many builds can be shared, we also store a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself). A random key is saved in your browser so that sharing the same build again updates it instead of making a copy.
- Build images: when you copy a build link or post to Reddit, a picture of the build is saved on our server, so that Reddit, Discord and other apps can show a preview of the link.
- Posting to Reddit opens reddit.com in a new tab. Reddit’s own privacy policy applies there.
6. Tool usage statistics
We count how often our tools, such as the Build Planner and the list filters, are opened and used, so we know which ones to improve. We only keep totals per day, not who did what. To avoid counting the same visit twice, a one-way hash of your IP address is kept for 30 minutes and then deleted. This counting does not use cookies.
7. Third-party links
Our pages link to other websites, such as Reddit, game publishers and the sources we use. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your data, so please read their privacy policies.
8. Why we process data
- Running and protecting the site (server logs, security, caching, spam protection for shared builds, tool usage totals): our legitimate interest in keeping the site available, safe and useful.
- Publishing a build you choose to share: your request to share it.
- Analytics, advertising and measurement cookies: your consent, where the law requires it.
9. How long data is kept
Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Shared builds stay on the site until they are removed; email us and we’ll take yours down. Tool usage totals are kept for up to 120 days per day, plus all-time totals. Cookies expire according to their own settings, which you can see and delete in your browser at any time. Google keeps data according to its own policies.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability and to withdraw your consent at any time. Visitors in California have similar rights under the CCPA, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Sweden this is Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).
11. Children
huntersaga.com is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site or the services we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
13. Contact
huntersaga.com is run by a private individual in Sweden, who is responsible for the personal data processed on this site. If you have questions about this policy, want a shared build removed or want to use any of your rights, email vilounius@gmail.com.
